Hello everyone!
I’m Kelly, the current Secretary and Treasurer of the NSNA. I am very excited to work with all of you this year. Please let me know if there is ANYTHING I can help you with!
I just wanted to point out a few amazing resources that exist on our website for secretaries and treasurers. All of these resources can be found on my page at www.nsna.org/ElectedOfficials/sectres.aspx
I encourage secretaries to review the Recording and Corresponding Secretaries Handbook, the State Association Meeting Minutes Submission Policy, and the Requirements for Official Constituency Status.
Additionally, I highly recommend treasurers review the Treasurer's Handbook and the numerous other resources available to them regarding taxes, including important information on how to gain non-profit status.
Last, but certainly not least, there is a short webinar regarding financial accountability for state associations & school chapters. This presentation was put together by Rebeka Rivera, the 2014/2015 NSNA Secretary and Treasurer. You will learn some of the skills needed to ensure compliance with finance rules and regulations. Topics include: IRS requirements; budgeting and financial reporting; internal control procedures; and a discussion on free or affordable software to assist your organization in managing and reporting on finances and accounting.
Basically, I handle all of the really fun and exciting topics for our board!
Again, please do not hesitate to email me or reply to this post with any questions you may have.
Best,
Kelly
