I am new to the Forum, and I'm not sure this is where I go to do this, but I have a policy question. I am the school nurse for a private school (and have been for 24 years). I have a new policy to figure out that has cropped up as a result of our newly organized 3K program. We have a parent of a 3k child who strictly uses all natural, organic products. She has asked us to apply sunscreen to her child before they play outside. The sunscreen she has asked us to use is only effective for two hours, so it must be applied a couple of times during the day (she stays for the after school program also).
What is your policy for applying sunscreen to 3,4, or 5 year olds? DSS categorizes sunscreen under the broad spectrum of medicine, so it is to be administered by me during the school day from 8:00 to 3:00, and by a staff member of the after school program after that time. I'd like your advise on developing this policy.

Hi Marilyn!
Thank you for joining the forum! Unfortunately I cannot address your question because this is a student nurses' association, not a professional one. I hope you can find your answer elsewhere!
